Liphook Knights at Wembley

The Liphook Knights Rewarded for their Success

The Liphook Knights were rewarded for their fine efforts on the pitch with a special tour of Wembley Stadium on 17 July 2010. The visit was organised by Tony Knights, the managing director of the team's sponsor, Knights & Sons Security Limited, who themselves provide manpower and security support to the home of English football.

The Knights had another successful season following promotion to Division 1 of the North East Hampshire Youth League and a top three finish has resulted in promotion to the Premier Division for the 2010/11 season. The team were also Under 10 Champions at the annual Beacon Hill Tournament for the second successive year so all in all it was a great season for the team.

The success of the Liphook Knights is a tribute to Liphook United as a club, which has an excellent youth policy allowing children to really enjoy football. The success has not gone unnoticed in the South, with one of the Knights, Will Pirie, recently being signed up by the Portsmouth FC Academy. We wish Will every success.

David McCusker accompanied the team to Wembley. He was extremely proud of his young players, saying, "They are a credit to the village of Liphook for their success and dedication to date. In a short time they have progressed so far and fully deserve to be in the Premier Division this coming season. I'd also like to thank the parents for supporting their players, whatever the weather! Their help and commitment is vital for the team to function."

Congratulations to the Liphook Knights!
