Football kit finds a new home

Liphook United FC decided to unite under one set of colours, royal blue with white, in 2011 and over the following 2 years its youth teams gradually replaced their old yellow with navy blue or navy blue with yellow kit with the new colours.

What happened to that unwanted kit?

Well, one of our managers gave some of it to a guy runs a charity in Africa, and now it is helping a new team to enjoy the beautiful game.

We hope, in due, course to find out more.

August 2012

Liphook United take the high road, all the way to the top!

This summer, quite a number of Liphook United players and members enjoyed holidays in Scotland.  Here's a brief summary of some of the activities they got up to.

Following Andy Murray’s gold medal success in the Olympic Games, Kirsten Shaw of the Liphook Ladies' team popped in to Dunblane, Perthshire and is shown here with Andy’s gold-painted Royal Mail postbox.

Kirsten continued on to the remote North West Highlands to retrace her early steps, and to indulge her passion for trail running and landscape photography.

Shown below is Kirsten's photo of Sandwood Bay in Sutherland, the sea stack Am Buachaille (The Herdsman), and the clouds.

Meanwhile David McCusker, Administrator of the Liphook Knights, and family which includes players from the Liphook Knights, Vipers and Samurai, were exploring Ayrshire.

Keen horse racing enthusiasts, they attended Ayr Races where Kieran's birthday was announced to the racegoers over the Tannoy.

Here we see the McCuskers have been finding out what can be done with pure spring water, barley and peat at the Bladnoch malt whisky distillery.

Having worked in his gap year on the Isle of Coll in the Inner Hebrides, Jonny Allcock, Administrator of the Liphook Huskies, was keen to show his family the island life, the white sandy beaches and crystal clear water of Coll.

Here we see the Allcock players from the Liphook Vikings, Bears and Huskies beneath the whalebone arch on the Isle of Coll.

Enthusiastic runners, the Allcocks participated in the Isle of Coll Half Marathon Day, as did Neil Pirie our Youth Secretary.  Jonny ran the half marathon, the rest of the family ran the 5k race, and Neil ran the 10k race.  You can see their finishing photos below.

Beside running in the Coll 10k, Neil Pirie also found time to walk up Ben Nevis; at 1,344 metres (4,408 ft) above sea level, the highest mountain in the UK.

Although it's classed as a simple walk up the 'Mountain Track', it was nevertheless a strenuous 4½ hour trek.  Neil likened it to using a stepper in a sauna!

Here we see Neil on the summit of Ben Nevis enjoying a dram of 10 year old Ben Nevis malt whisky.

Cheers!
