Chairman's message

"I would like to welcome you to the Liphook United Football Club website. You will find content for each of our youth, men's and ladies' teams as well as useful information about our club. It is also important to mention that we are supported by very generous and kind sponsors for whom you will find links on each of the team pages and the main sponsor page.

Our aim at Liphook United is to develop and support the game of football within our community and surrounding areas. We are proud to belong to the Hampshire Football Association, the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier Football League, the North East Hampshire Youth League and the Hampshire County Womens Football League.

As a club we are over 100 years old and this is due to the large group of volunteers in various roles who keep the club running. If you would like to join us, please contact us."

Nigel Marr

November 2009
Breast Cancer Awareness Month - What a success!

Throughout October over 35 female teams and 18 referees in association with Hampshire FA made special efforts to raise money for Cancer Research UK's 'Join the Fight' campaign to combat Breast Cancer.

Pre-match warm ups in pink, raffles and games are just a couple of examples of how funds have been raised to support this important cause. Efforts by teams all across our county including Basingstoke Town Ladies, Widbrook United and Crofton Saints have made the grand total exceed £4,000!

Liphook United Ladies went the whole hog and turned their match into a fundraising event. Children took part in a penalty shoot out and even ran a competition to guess the number of balloons in a car! Refreshments were sold, along with running a raffle, tombola and cake sale. The total raised by Liphook United Ladies was an incredible £800, a massive contribution to the grand total. Players wore pink socks and sweat bands during the game and the goalkeeper even played in a tutu to mark everyone's continued support and awareness.

Justine Mosley, Women and Girls Football Development Officer for Hampshire FA who also plays for Basingstoke Town Ladies, said: "I am really pleased with the number of clubs and referees in Hampshire that supported this very worthy cause. The amount of work put in by some of the clubs has been absolutely fantastic! As well as raising awareness about breast cancer across the County, the profile of the female game has also been highlighted. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those individuals who have supported this campaign throughout October."
